Bhopal: The case of death of cheetahs in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park seems never ending. Another leopard died on Friday. According to reports till now 3 cubs and 5 leopards have died. Altogether 8 cheetahs have died. Earlier on Monday, Cheetah ‘Daksh’ had died. At the same time, the first death was of a Namibian cheetah, which died on March 27 this year due to kidney problems.
For the past several months, questions are being raised about keeping more cheetahs in Kuno. The area of the National Park is 748 sq km. However, after testing the potential of the area, it was decided to release five more cheetahs into the wild, for which permits had been obtained. There were three females and two males among them.
It may be mentioned that on 17th September 2022, PM Modi started the Chita Project. But after one, the death of a cheetah went consistent. In the recent assembly session, forest minister Vijay Shah has given information that so far a total of Rs 32 crore has been spent in the cheetah project.
