No ID proof nor any documents needed for exchange of 2000 rupee notes, SBI…

New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) took a big decision on Friday. RBI told in a press release that it is taking 2000 Rupee Notes out of circulation. However, these will continue to be legal tender. People can deposit or exchange these notes by visiting banks between May 23 and September 30. If you are going to the bank on May 23 to exchange 2000 rupee note, then important news has come for you. The news is that you can exchange 2000 rupee notes with other denomination notes without ID proof. You do not have to fill any form for this. The country’s largest government bank State Bank of India (SBI) has given information about this in its letter. State Bank of India has said in its notification that no person has to give ID proof nor fill any form to exchange 2000 rupee note. Rs 2000 notes up to Rs 20,000 can be easily exchanged in one go.

It may be mentioned that RBI had taken out these notes in November 2016 under Section 24(1) of the RBI Act 1934. This decision was taken because at that time 500 and 1000 rupee notes were removed from circulation. In the year 2016, during the note ban, the government had banned the notes of 500 and 1000 rupees.
