
Bhilai: ED has raided the house of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The team reached his house in Bhilai-3 Padum Nagar on Monday morning in four vehicles. Documents are being scrutinized. It is being told that the ED team has come to investigate the coal scam and Mahadev Satta App case. Actually, in the Mahadev Satta App case, EOW (Economic Investigation Branch) had registered an FIR against 21 accused including former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on the complaint of ED. It also includes the names of app promoter Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal and many unknown police officers and businessmen. At that time, Baghel had called it a political conspiracy.
Mahadev App generated income of 6000 crores.
ED has been investigating the money laundering case related to Mahadev App for about a year. It is alleged that high ranking politicians and bureaucrats of Chhattisgarh are involved in it. The two main promoters of the app are also from Chhattisgarh. According to ED, about 6,000 crores have been recovered in this case.
What is coal scam?
ED had exposed the coal levy scam of 570 crores after investigation in Chhattisgarh. Apart from IAS Ranu Sahu, IAS Sameer Vishnoi, Saumya Chaurasia, JD Mining SS Nag and businessman Suryakant Tiwari were arrested. Apart from this, Congress leaders and some businessmen were also under the purview of ED’s investigation. These people have been questioned and some documents have also been seized from their houses. ED had registered a case of illegal coal transportation worth 570 crores last year. There is an allegation of charging 25 rupees commission per ton from coal agencies in coal transportation. This recovery was done by a syndicate, FIR has been lodged in the name of people of the syndicate.
