Sukma : Being an agricultural state, the festivals of Chhattisgarh have special importance. The first festival in the sequence of these festivals is Hareli. Hareli is a festival of culture and tradition.

On the occasion of Hareli festival, Dr. S. Zaheeruddin Deputy Director Veterinary Services said that under the guidance of Collector Haris S and District Panchayat CEO DN Kashyap, the Roka-Cheka campaign is being carried out by the Animal Husbandry Development Department, Sukma, in very sensitive and rural areas. With this effort of the Government of Chhattisgarh, farmers will not only be able to complete their agricultural work quickly, but can also take advantage of double cropping.

The Deputy Director of the Veterinary Department told that under the continuous Roka Cheka campaign in the district from July 06 to 31, departmental employees organized veterinary health camps in Gauthan village and Gauthans to help villagers. Public representatives, women of self-help groups and shepherds played a vital role in promoting the campaign. In order to save the grazing of the crops, awareness is being made by encouraging them not to leave the animals loose, instead tie them in their homes or bring them regularly to the Gothan.

The work of Roka-Cheka has become easier with the formation of Gothans in every village. Gothan Management Committees have started making proper arrangements for better management and maintenance of livestock.

From time to time, by organizing veterinary camps in Gauthan villages and Gauthans, the works of animal health examination, treatment, castration, artificial insemination, vaccination and medicine distribution are being done for animal breed improvement.
Apart from this, more and more villagers are being benefited by giving information about departmental livelihood schemes to the villagers at the camp site, said Dr. S Zaheeruddin.
