Balasore: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started investigating the painful triple train accident in Balasore, Odisha. A 10-member CBI team reached Balasore on Monday and inspected the spot. 275 people have died in the Balasore train accident. While 1100 people were injured. Out of these 900 people have been discharged from the hospital. While 200 are still undergoing treatment. At the same time, the identification of 101 dead bodies is also pending. On Sunday, the Railways had recommended a CBI inquiry into the accident.
According to the news agency, DRM Rintesh Ray of Khurda Road Division has confirmed the commencement of CBI investigation. Earlier, Railway Safety Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Pathak visited the accident site, he inspected the control room, signal room and signal point of Bahanaga Bazar railway station. Apart from this, the Railway Police in Balasore has registered a case on June 3 under various sections of IPC and Railway Act regarding the accident.
It may be mentioned that the official death toll in the Odisha train accident has risen to 278 after the death of three injured on Monday, the Railways said. However, according to Odisha government figures, the death toll is still 275. DRM of Khurda Road Division, Rinkesh Ray said that on June 2; 278 people died and 1100 people were injured in the accident caused by the collision of three trains.
