Promises to cover MBA fees at IIM Ahmedabad.
Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel steps up to help visually impaired siblings Muskan and Mohit achieve their dreams by covering the fees for Mohit’s MBA program at IIM Ahmedabad, while also recognizing their contributions to society through the project “Ray of Hope”.
Muskan shared that both her brother and she are struggling with a genetic eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa, causing severe vision impairment. Sadly, Muskan lost her vision entirely, while her brother has left with only half of his. After Mohit got accepted in the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, the high fees at the institute came as a shock, leaving them feeling hopeless about his education. They learned that the only person who could help was the Chief Minister, but they didn’t know how to reach out to him.
The siblings met Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at his residence office here . When Muskan talked to Chief Minister about her concerns, he said “Never think like that. Your dreams will definitely come true. Forget about the worry of fees and study with full dedication.” In addition, he directed the officials concerned to prepare a proposal seeking approval from the Cabinet to provide Rs 25 lakhs for Mohit’s college fees.
Mohit, a resident of Raipur, told the Chief Minister that his father works in a private company. Despite suffering from a genetic eye disease, he aspires to study and make a difference for children facing similar challenges. Mohit has been accepted for an MBA program at India’s top management institute, IIM Ahmedabad, with a score of 99.93 per cent on the entrance exam (CAT). The program’s fees for two years amount to approximately Rs 25 lakh, which his family can’t afford.
Chief Minister applauded Mohit and Muskan’s hard work that led to their success and assured them that they need not worry about the fees. He promised to do the needful that would enable them to concentrate entirely on their studies while their fees are taken care of.
Muskan told the Chief Minister that she is currently pursuing a B.Ed degree from Banaras Hindu University. Additionally, she and her brother Mohit run a project called “Ray of Hope”, where they provide online Mental Maths and English classes to nearly 200 visually impaired individuals in India and abroad. They aspire to expand this initiative further. Chief Minister Baghel lauded Mohit and Muskan for their commitment to serving their society.
