Ranchi (IANS): President Draupadi Murmu has said that many times people do not get justice even after the decisions of the courts. The victim has to fight for years for each case. Time, money and sleepless nights are wasted due to this. Some cases gets final in the High Court and in some cases in the Supreme Court. Those in whose favor the decision comes, they are happy. But after five-ten years it is known that they did not get justice at all. It must be ensured that people get justice in real terms. I do not know how this will happen. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the Law Minister, the judges and the lawyers should all work together to find a way out.
The President was speaking at the inauguration-dedication of the new building of the Jharkhand High Court in Ranchi on Wednesday. She said, “I was associated with a committee in the village that used to see how the family was after the court verdict. At that time, we found that even after the court verdict, people did not get justice. But it was not implemented. I still have a list of many such people, which I will send to the Chief Justice of India. Court is a temple of justice, people look at it with faith. Court has the power to deliver justice Can give people their rights.
At the outset the President expressed happiness over the speech in Hindi by the Chief Justice of India at the ceremony. She said that the Supreme Court has started work in many languages. This is necessary in Jharkhand. Apart from English, people here are comfortable in other languages.
On this occasion, Chief Justice of Supreme Court D.Y. Chandrachud said, “The goal of the judicial system is to provide justice to the common man. Today there are countless courts in the country, where there is no toilet for women. The judicial system has to reach every citizen of the society. Through technology, we can do our work.”
“In my personal experience of seven years in the Supreme Court, poor people are jailed for many days before being sentenced. If justice is not delivered quickly, how will their faith remain. In matters concerning direct bail we should take care it”.
