Purchase of alcohol will be cashless, UPI payment system to be introduced soon..

Raipur:  The problem of small change to buy liquor will now end in the state. The Excise Department is going to sell liquor online through UPI. If everything remains normal, liquor can be purchased cashless from the second week of June.

Cash purchase has been the main reason behind the three thousand crore liquor scam that took place during the previous government. Due to this, a big syndicate was formed which embezzled crores by selling liquor at over rate. Many prominent people of this syndicate are in jail today. This scam tarnished the image of Chhattisgarh and the Excise Department also suffered a loss of revenue.

According to the information received, the department and the marketing company (CGMSCL) have now completed preparations to make the purchase and sale of liquor online to deal with this problem. Every day, about 35 crores of Indian and foreign liquor is consumed in the state, which is sold in cash. Now all this will be done through UPI through SBI.

The liquor corporation has opened separate UPI accounts in the bank for all its more than 600 shops. Customers will be able to make online payments through the QR code of these shops. At present, this system is being started in premium shops as a pilot project, after which it will be implemented in all Indian and English liquor shops as well.

MD of the corporation Abhishek Agarwal said that this will eliminate the problem of over-rating and change. The employees of the shops will not be able to collect large amounts in round figures and distribute them among themselves by saying that there is no change. Deputy Commissioner Ashish Srivastava said that this system will help in preventing revenue loss and the department will be able to achieve its annual target of 11 thousand crores. According to the officials, even after this, if there is excess recovery, then the buyers will be able to complain by calling the toll free number 14405.
