Forest staff seized 24,500 bundles of illegal tendu leaves under Sukma forest division and collected a fine of 40,000 rupees…

In compliance with the instructions of Divisional Forest Officer and Managing Director District Cooperative Union Sukma, Ashok Patel, under Forest Range Dornapal, on 13 May 2024, with the active cooperation of SDO Forest Dornapal and Deputy Managing Director District Cooperative Union Sukma, Range Officers Dornapal, Sukma, Jagargunda and Konta as well as subordinate officers and employees of Forest Range Dornapal, the collection of forest produce was inspected on all the boat ghats and interstate routes falling under Dornapal Range.

At the outset 24,500 bundles of tendu leaves purchased illegally by Mohammad Abdul Karim Khan son of Mohammad Abdul Peer Khan age 29 years resident of Konta, Kawasi Hirma father Kawasi Singa age 55 years resident of Kurti and Sheikh Naeem father Sheikh Suhan age 45 years resident of Konta in village Pedakurti were seized.

According to information the officers and employees of the forest department registered a forest crime case against the concerned persons for the illegal green tendu leaves seized by them and collected a fine of Rs. 40,000. The seized tendu leaves have been handed over to the Forest Officer and Warehouse In-charge Dornapal, Dharmendra Kumar Singh and Forest Guard and Assistant Warehouse In-charge, Sona Ram Sodhi.

The staff of the forest department informed that in view of the current collection of tendu leaves, as per the instructions of the Divisional Forest Officer and Managing Director District Cooperative Union Sukma, continuous monitoring of illegal purchase and transportation of forest produce is being done in the border areas. So that more and more local collector families can benefit from the collection of forest produce.
