Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh (IANS)) : For 27-year-old Suraj Tiwari, a resident of Kaswa Kuravli in Mainpuri district, who secured 917th rank in the civil services examination, is a dream come true. Tiwari is amputated in both legs and one hand. His success is a moment of joy for his family and the town.

While returning from college in New Delhi, Suraj met with an accident at a railway station on January 29, 2017 and lost both his legs above the knee. He lost his right arm just below the elbow, leaving him bedridden and completely dependent on family members for his daily routine.

The accident not only took away his ability to walk and write, but also pushed him into depression. His family members said that this was the darkest phase for him. But Suraj knew that hard work was the only hope for him to shine again.

Suraj graduated and is now pursuing MA in Russian language from Jawaharlal Nehru University. This gave him a new ray of hope, but Suraj decided that he would shine even more.

Suraj started preparing for one of the toughest exams in the country during COVID-19. He cleared the UPSC written exam in his first attempt, but missed the interview by a few marks. In his second attempt, he got success in the examination. There is an atmosphere of celebration in his family since the declaration of the result.
