Sukma : As part of Mental Health Program, DMHP team gave necessary information related to mental health to the children the other day. The program was organised under the aegis of Dr. Mahesh Shandia, Chief Medical and Health Officer in National Mental Health Program, Civil Surgeon Dr. Abhay Pratap Singh Tomar and under the guidance of Dr. Mahadev Barse, Nodal Officer of Mental Health Program.
At the outset children were apprised about how to prevent suicidal thoughts. The program was held at Livelihood College.
Psychiatric social worker Reena Mandavi and clinical psychologist Nitya Dewangan, team members of DMHP, told that nervousness, anxiety, stress, loss of sleep and appetite, depression, excessive consumption of tobacco, alcohol and suicidal thoughts, problems in completing daily activities etc. can be symptoms of mental illness.
Along with mental health, information about suicide assessment, warning science, risk factor, protective factor and suicide was given in the program. The speakers told that life and work can be improved by including various recreational activities in life skills. The students were also informed about the sparsh clinic room located in the district hospital. Yogesh Sinha, Member, DMHT, Mr. Mahendra Sahu, Principal, Livelihood and others were present on the occasion.
