Bi-monthly meeting of PC-PNDT Act Committee concluded…

Sukma:  The bi-monthly meeting of the PC-PNDT (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques) Act Committee was successfully concluded on Thursday in the meeting hall of the District Hospital. This meeting was chaired by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kapil Kashyap.

In the meeting, the programs running in the district regarding the prevention of pre-conception and pre-natal sex selection were reviewed and emphasis was laid on the effective implementation of the Act. The members of the committee discussed the monitoring of ultrasound centers in various health centers and hospitals of the district. Also, emphasis was laid on the need for special efforts to prevent illegal sex determination and to increase awareness among the general public.

Dr. Shrishti Barwa, Medical Officer, District Hospital, said that it is a legal offense for any woman to test the sex of the unborn child. She gave information about the ultrasound machine in the district hospital and gave suggestions related to registration to maintain transparency under the PC-PNDT Act. During this, other prominent members of the committee also shared their views and discussed taking steps to protect the health and rights of women in the district.

CS Dr. MR Kashyap, Dr. Anuja Chate, Gynecologist, District Hospital, Shri Kishan Kumar, Public Relations Department, Mrs. Pramila Singh, Women Protection Officer, Shri Adarsh Kumar, Samyabhoomi Foundation and others were present in the meeting.
