DRDO successfully tests ballistic missile ‘Agni Prime’…

New Delhi: The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully test fired the new generation ballistic missile ‘Agni Prime’. The missile was test-fired from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island of the coast of Odisha. A Defense Ministry official said on Thursday that the test of the missile was successful in its objectives. According to the ministry, this was the first pre-induction night launch after three successful developmental trials of the missile, confirming the accuracy and reliability of the system.


The test was conducted on the night of June 7, the ministry said. Range instrumentation such as radar, telemetry and electro-optical tracking systems were deployed at the terminal point at various locations, including two down-range vessels, to capture flight data. Senior officials of DRDO and Strategic Forces Command witnessed the test. Defense Minister, Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO and Armed Forces for the successful test. Dr. Sameer V. Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defense Research and Development and Chairman, DRDO, appreciated the teams of DRDO laboratories and those involved in the test.
