New Delhi (IANS): Supreme Court lawyer Vineet Jindal has filed a complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge alleging that they made inflammatory remarks about the President’s caste. Jindal, in his complaint filed before Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, alleged that the intention behind the statements was to create discord between different communities and groups while trying to promote a feeling of distrust towards the Centre. I am filing this complaint against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi and others, who have made inflammatory and defamatory statements to promote enmity between communities by mentioning the caste of President Draupadi Murmu.

He said, “Recently I have seen in media reports several prominent leaders making provocative statements mentioning the caste of the President on the occasion of the inauguration of the new Parliament building”. Jindal said, the statements made by Kharge and Kejriwal were deliberately made to mention the caste of the President of India, with a view to show that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the present government by not inviting the President, had deliberately denied the President the opportunity to inaugurate the new building of Parliament.

These statements are widely published and circulated in news and social media and it will result in provoking ST and tribal community as our President also belongs to tribal and ST community. Such statements made by influential political leaders against a duly elected government on the basis of caste and promoting enmity between communities/groups are highly condemnable. Political leaders should not be allowed to stoop to this level just for their political gains, stated Jindal.
