This year, the theme for International Women’s Day is ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’. The goal behind Women’s Day is to spread the message of gender equality, celebrate the achievements and contributions of women in different spheres, and work towards building a society free of all gender biases, stereotypes, gender parity and discrimination. On this day, people appreciate the strong, intelligent, talented and simply extraordinary women in their lives.
Taking this opportunity, News Edition 24 is presenting the views of Ms. Preeti Durgam, SDM Sukma.
In an exclusive interview with News Edition 24, Ms Preeti Durgam specifically stressed for the need of Women Empowerment. She was of the view that woman must be empowered with education without any discrimination of gender equality.
An intelligent student in school days, who did schooling from Bijapur and higher studies from Bhilai, Ms Preeti Durgam expressed her gratitude to her parents for her success. ‘Whatever I’m today is because of my parents, who supported me by all means to fulfill my dreams’, said Ms Preeti.
She pointed that International Women’s Day (IWD) is all about celebrating women and their achievements. But, it is also important for women to know about their rights and keep themselves updated about any changes or newly formed policies. And what better day to do the same than on Women’s Day. After all, being aware of your rights makes you feel empowered and confident. It can also save you in tricky situations and help you understand right from wrong. Several online sites provide appropriate information. So, start studying and also spread information.
When I say I want a gender-friendly society, it means a society in which women has all the fundamental rights. In her message to the girls and women on this auspicious day, Ms Preeti Durgam has appealed to make themselves empowered with knowledge. ‘Leave no stone unturned to fulfill your dreams because hard work done with honesty and sincerity will always bear fruit’, said Ms Preeti Durgam.
