News Edition 24 Desk: National Vice President of Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) Amar Parwani, Chairman Magelal Malu, Amar Gidwani, State President Jitendra Doshi, Working President Vikram Singhdev, Parmanand Jain, Vashu Makhija, General Secretary Surinder Singh, Executive Secretary Bharat Jain, Treasurer Ajay Agrawal and Media in-charge Sanjay Choubey informed that soon after the Karnataka High Court’s decision dismissing the petitions of Amazon and Flipkart, the Confederation All India Traders (CAT) has today sent a letter to the Union Commerce Minister Shri Piyush Goyal in which he has been asked by the Competition Commission of India (CCI). ) to immediately initiate investigation proceedings against Amazon and Flipkart.

CAIT has also urged Piyush Goyal to issue a much awaited new press note in place of Press Note 2 of the FDI policy, while also creating a monitoring mechanism for proper implementation of the laws, rules and policies of the Government. So that no one dares to violate any policy. CAIT has also urged Mr. Goyal that in order to bring more transparency in e-commerce business, every type of e-commerce business which is done through any kind of electronic medium, should compulsorily send its approval from DPIIT Department of Ministry of Commerce. Registration is required.

Take immediate steps to prevent continued violation of policy and rules by Flipkart and other foreign funded e-commerce companies. During this week, the delegation of traders will meet the Chief Minister and Finance Minister of their respective states and demand that small traders should not face any repressive policy of e-commerce companies. Do not face any opposition. To save the business community from the onslaught of e-commerce companies, merchant organizations across the country will send a memorandum to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal by e-mail.

Mr. Parwani and Mr. Doshi regret that these e-commerce companies have ignored the repeated instructions given by Mr. Piyush Goyal and continue to indulge in unethical and illegal activities by flouting the mandatory provisions of the FDI policy. have been indulging. This fact was confirmed by the Delhi High Court in January 2021 in the case of Amazon Vs Future Retail and yesterday when the Karnataka High Court in its order said that “it is expected that the order directing the inquiry should be justified, which the Commission fulfilled”. Yes. This observation of the Court has confirmed the fact that all is not well and hence the investigation should go on. Both the business leaders have appreciated the strong stand taken by the CCI on this matter.

Mr. Parwani and Mr. Doshi said that the misconceptions of e-commerce companies that the laws of India are weak and can be tampered with in any manner as per their convenience, should be removed with immediate credible action. He said that traders across the country have been cheated by these companies and are gradually losing faith in the administrative system and to regain such trust, strict steps need to be taken to ensure that No one, big or small, thinks of violating the law or policy. Despite these violations openly in broad daylight, till now the concerned authorities and departments have not taken any significant step to check the malpractices of these e-commerce companies. CAIT has urged that strict instructions be issued to the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to maintain an environment of level trade competition.

Mr Parwani and Mr Doshi said that the game of capital dumping by these so called markets has eroded the entrepreneurial skills and human capital of the country which is a cognizable offence. To waste the human capital of any country, Displacing them from their businesses and encroaching on their livelihoods by these capitalists is certainly not the “India” that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dreamed of. This policy is killing the ‘self-reliant India’ spirit of the people of India.

Mr. Parwani and Mr. Doshi said that these companies established themselves as the second variant of the East India Company to fulfill their aspirations and ulterior motives to control and dominate the entire landscape of not only e-commerce but retail trade. trying to do. In India’s retail business, 8 crore traders are doing an annual business of about 115 lakh crore rupees in a year by providing employment to about 40 crore people, which these companies have brought to the brink of ruin.

Mr Parwani and Mr Doshi said that both Amazon and Flipkart have from time to time claimed that they are the most law-abiding companies and if so why are they afraid of any scrutiny of their business models and business practices. And why are they constantly trying their level best to stop the investigation ordered by CCI. Why not do a thorough investigation by CCI in which these companies who claim to be right, they come out as Kundan. The CCI investigation of the business models of these companies is indeed an opportunity for them to make themselves a role model and credible company for India’s business and industry. These companies are consistently demonstrating that they are the advocates and saviors of small traders in India.

Amazon and Flipkart claim that they help small merchants grow their business by providing markets and facilities for e-commerce activities in India and allowing merchants to grow their business with a large number of small merchants under their marketplace model. moving forward. Mr. Parvani and Mr. Doshi said that these companies are showing themselves as charitable organizations by showing mercy to the vulnerable conditions of small businesses and provide huge opportunities to the businessmen to develop their business under their generous and large umbrella. .

Mr. Parwani and Mr. Doshi said that their claims are completely baseless and the fact is that there is no merit in it. If they live up to their claim, they should provide a list of only the top 10 sellers present on their portal in the last 5 years, which will prove who are the people on their portal who sell the maximum number of items. are. These are the companies that are related to these portals. These foreign e-commerce entities have a habit of making tall claims about helping and assisting small and medium retailers by ruthlessly destroying the very close web of our traditional kiranas and small traders. On the contrary it works.

Mr. Parwani and Mr. Doshi firmly stated that India’s business community is self-reliant and does not need the mercy of any foreign institution. We are not orphans at all as perceived by these companies and are capable enough to ensure our growth within the parameters of the policies defined by the Government for India’s domestic business and the CSR activities being carried out by the traders in India. The scale is much bigger than any corporate house including Amazon, Flipkart.

Mr. Parwani and Mr. Doshi said that traders across the country are deeply hurt by a recent remark made by Mr. Amit Agarwal, Country Head, Amazon India, in which he said that in order to make India a global destination for investment, contracts have to be signed. and emphasize the validity of legal agreements. We have never heard a statement more contradictory than this by an industry leader because if there is one business group that needs to respect and follow the law of the land, it is Amazon India. It would be better for Mr. Aggarwal not to make fun of the Indian legal system, and focus on following the policy and law laid down in the government’s FDI policy instead of continuing to violate the FEMA/FDI policy, lockdown guidelines and other laws.
