News Edition 24 Desk: Raipur: Minister of Public Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education, Singhdev held discussions with senior departmental officers and experts from all medical colleges in the state on post-covid management of corona infected. He instructed for firm preparations to deal with the challenges of a possible third wave of Corona. He asked the experts of medical colleges to make special arrangements for the treatment of pregnant women and children.

The Health Minister, after consulting the institutes and experts of AIIMS Raipur and all the nine government medical colleges in the state, reviewed the physical problems and the conditions arising after treatment of Covid-19 and instructed them for better management. He asked the experts of all medical colleges that they should analyze the facts and figures related to the current conditions, treatment and recovery of Covid patients and send their suggestions to the Health Department for making better arrangements.

Singhdev studied the data and protocols related to treatment of Covid-19 and asked to clear up the misconceptions and rumors related to its treatment. He instructed all the medical colleges to provide information about the preparations and resources required for post cavid management. He said that with respect to the second wave of Covid-19, there is a general perception that the youth have been affected the most. But if we look at the data of the first and second wave, the pattern of the affected is almost the same. Even though the number of corona infectives of different age groups is higher in the second wave than in the first wave. There are also many misconceptions about the use of medicines in the treatment of corona patients.

Unnecessary excessive use of many medicines has also been noticed. Their side effects are also visible in patients.

Principal Secretary of the Health Department, Dr. Alok Shukla said in the meeting that an in-depth analysis of the facts and figures related to the treatment of Corona Infections is necessary. He asked all the medical colleges to improve their arrangements for post covid management in view of the present circumstances. Post-covid management of people recovering from corona should be treated with medical audit of treatment and use of medicines. He suggested to form a medical audit team in collaboration with the Medical Council of India. Dr. Shukla said that many medicines being used in the treatment of corona are currently at the Experimental Drugs level. They should not be used unnecessarily. He asked the institutes of medical colleges to direct their experts to prescribe medicines on the basis of medical information only.

Dr. Nitin M. Nagerkar, Director, AIIMS Raipur, said that following the protocol is necessary in the management of Covid-19. Given the side effects of the drugs and its experimental phase, they should be used very carefully. Long-lasting virus infections keep new stains and protocol changes have to be made accordingly. In view of the role of ventilators and ICUs in the treatment of critical patients, it is necessary to have skilled and trained medical staff working in sufficient numbers.

In the video conference, experts from all medical colleges made important suggestions regarding the treatment of corona patients, infected pregnant women, treatment of children, use of ICU and ventilators. Packra, Dr. Renuka Gahine, Dean of Rajnandgaon Medical College, Dr. P.M., Dean of Raigad Medical College. Luka, Ambikapur Medical College Dean Dr. R. Murthy, Dean of Korba Medical College, Dr. Y.K. Bargainya, Dean of Mahasamund Medical College, Dr. P.K. Nigam and Dean of Kanker Medical College, Dr. M.L. Garg also participated in discussions with specialist doctors of their respective institutions.
