Lalu Prasad’s daughter in electoral fray for first time from Saran..

Will face two-time Union Minister

Patna:  Rohini Acharya, the daughter who gave a new life to RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav by donating her kidney, now wants to return the political legacy by winning her father’s stronghold Saran. Lalu reached Parliament for the first time by winning the election from Saran. Rohini is in the fray to start her political career from father’s seat Saran. This seat has been with the BJP for the last two times and at present Rajiv Pratap Rudy is the MP from here.

Saran seat is also known as Chhapra since the delimitation of 2008. Voting is to be held here on May 20 in the fifth phase. Saran has been Lalu’s stronghold and there are a large number of his supporters in the rural area here. This is the reason that when Rohini went on a tour of the area for the first time, the crowd gathered even in the scorching sun. Now it remains to be seen whether the crowd gathered for the darshan will convert into votes and pave the way for the parliament or Rohini’s dream will be shattered like the dilapidated roads of the villages.

Lalu Yadav, wife and Samadhi have lost in Saran

Lalu Prasad himself has lost the Saran seat to Rajiv Pratap Rudy in 1996. After this, his wife Rabri Devi in 2014 and Samadhi Chandrika Rai in 2019 have lost the parliamentary election from Saran. Rudy has faced Lalu’s family members every time. In such a situation, defeating the two-time Union Minister from here will be a big challenge for Rohini.

Caste equation: Yadav votes are the highest

The population of Yadavs is 25 percent, while Rajputs are 23 percent. Apart from these, Vaishya voters in Saran are 20 percent, Muslims are 13 percent and Dalits are 12 percent.
